In the late 90's Levick co-created and fronted L.A. indie breakout band Gifthorse which included bassist Berry Oakley Jr. (son of the deceased Allman Bros bass player). Gifthorse was signed by So Cal indie label, Pinch Hit records, when the band’s first single "Heathers Arrest" charted up to #3 on commercial modern rock radio (what we used to listen to music on), a feat virtually unheard of for an indie band at the time.
"Take Cake's penchant for witty, self-deprecating perversity, add in Black Crows-like guitar riffs and a Lennon/Petty vocal charisma, the music of GiftHorse will surely wiggle through." - Slamm Magazine 1999
"No, Excess, Lies and Heather's Arrest is one of the most lovable albums to come out this year" - Billboard Magazine 1999
